Returns and exchanges — the 30-day policy in plain English

Our full returns and exchanges policy. 30 days, no quibble, no restocking fees. How to start a return and what happens to the canvas afterwards.

We make canvases to order. That doesn't change the policy: 30 days, no quibble, full refund. If the canvas doesn't work in your room, send it back and we'll refund the order including original shipping.

This guide is the long version of that policy, including the edge cases.

The short version

  • 30 days from the day the canvas arrives at your address.
  • No restocking fee. What you paid is what comes back.
  • No reason needed. You don't have to justify the return.
  • You pay return postage. Unless the canvas arrived damaged, in

which case we pay everything.

  • Refund within 5 working days of us receiving the canvas back.

How to start a return

1. Email returns@canvas-wallart.com with your order number and a brief note (any reason; "doesn't suit the room" is fine). 2. We'll send you a return address (within the same country you ordered from — no international return postage required). 3. Pack the canvas back into its original box if you still have it, or any rigid box with foam or bubble wrap around the corners. Don't roll it. 4. Send via any tracked service. Keep the tracking number — if the parcel goes missing in transit and you can't show tracking, the refund is on hold until the canvas turns up. 5. Once we receive and inspect it, we'll refund the original payment method within 5 working days. The refund includes original outbound shipping if you paid for it.

Damaged on arrival

This isn't a return — it's a replacement. Don't ship the canvas back.

  • Photograph the box (especially any visible external damage) and the

canvas inside the box before unpacking further.

  • Email support@canvas-wallart.com with the photos within 7 days.
  • A free replacement ships the same day. The damaged canvas is yours to

keep or recycle locally — we won't ask for it back.

This applies whether the damage is the carrier's fault or a manufacturing issue (a misprint, a streak, anything that came out of the production line wrong).

Not damaged but doesn't look right

Sometimes the canvas arrives in perfect condition and just doesn't suit the room. That's a return, not a replacement — but the policy is the same. 30 days, no quibble.

If you're not sure whether you want to keep it, hang it for a week. The room adjusts to new art over the first few days; what reads as "too bold" on day one usually settles by day five. If after a week it still isn't working, start the return then.

Exchanges

We don't formally process exchanges — but two things make it near-frictionless:

  • Same canvas, different size. Order the new size online, return

the old one for refund. The refund typically arrives before the new canvas ships, so the cash gap is zero.

  • Different canvas. Same approach. Buy what you want, return what

you don't. We won't ask which print you ordered second.

What we can't accept

Three edge cases:

  • Customised orders. We don't currently offer custom or

commissioned canvases. If we ever do, those won't fall under the 30-day return.

  • Canvas damaged after delivery. If the canvas was hung, knocked

off the wall, and dented, we can't refund it. Pre-existing damage from transit, yes; damage that happened in your house, no.

  • Returns after 30 days. The window is firm. After 30 days the

canvas is yours.

What happens to returned canvas

Returned canvases that are still in sellable condition go into a discounted second-stock sale, never destroyed. The artist's original royalty is still paid in full.

Canvases that come back with marks, dents, or transit damage from the return shipping go to local UK schools, community centres, and charities — we have a partnership with a Manchester arts charity that takes everything we can't resell.

We don't landfill canvases. The carbon footprint of a returned canvas is roughly the same as the original delivery; the right thing is to keep it in a wall somewhere.

Refunds

  • Card refunds show up in 5 working days from the moment we mark

the return processed. Some banks take 7–10 days on their side.

  • Apple Pay / Google Pay refunds go to the underlying card.
  • Klarna / Clearpay (if used) — the refund returns to Klarna /

Clearpay first, then forwards to your card.

If a refund hasn't landed within 14 days of us emailing the confirmation, reply to that email and we'll chase the payment processor.

A note on the policy itself

We sell canvases at scale and the actual return rate sits below 4%. We don't price the return policy into the cost of the canvas. The 30-day window is firm but generous, and most customers who initiate a return end up keeping the piece after the week-long settle-in.

What's your return policy?+

Do you accept returns on canvas wall art?+

Yes — same policy as above. Canvas-specific exceptions are limited to canvases damaged after delivery (we can't refund those) and customised orders (we don't currently offer any).

How do I return a canvas?+

Email returns@canvas-wallart.com with your order number. We'll send a return address. Send it tracked, keep the tracking number, and the refund processes within 5 working days of arrival.

What if my canvas arrived damaged?+

Email support@canvas-wallart.com with photos of the box and canvas within 7 days. Free replacement ships the same day. Keep the damaged canvas (don't return it).

Do I have to pay return shipping?+

Yes, unless the canvas arrived damaged or was the wrong item. Return shipping is typically £5–£10 within the UK via Royal Mail Tracked 48.

How long do refunds take?+

We process refunds within 5 working days of receiving the canvas. Most banks then take 2–5 additional days to show the refund in your account.

Can I exchange a canvas for a different size?+

Effectively yes — buy the new size online, return the old one for refund. The refund usually arrives before the new canvas ships, so you won't be out of pocket.
